Merih aspires to teach UT students about the Turkish language and culture via both a traditional and contemporary perspective that includes the diversities influenced by both Eastern and Western cultures. Hence, she’d like to use culture oriented audio-visual and printed materials in her language course and hopes to demonstrate how culture and language affect commercials by displaying TV scenes in class.Merih’s non-academic interests include deejaying and designing clothes. She plans to focus on dialects spoken throughout the U.S. as a future research project. Upon her return to Turkey, Merih plans to continue teaching at Trakya University and she believes that her experience at U.T. will add a different perspective to her teaching skills as she’s teaching her native language for the first time.
